Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the information from Find a Doctor come from?
Information comes directly from the International SOS Provider Network database of healthcare providers and facilities, which is vetted by our Network Management team for suitability, quality, and affordability.
What kind of healthcare facilities are listed within Find a Doctor?
Primary healthcare facilities, general practitioners and walk-in clinics. Providers have been chosen who are suitable for business travellers, such as those who accept walk-in patients and speak a range of languages. This criteria may limit the number of providers yielded in your search. If you do not see providers in your area, contact an Assistance Centre.
Can I book an appointment with a specialist?
Find a Doctor is for non-urgent/non-specialty needs only. To book an appointment with a specialist, contact an Assistance Centre.
Which locations are available to search? What if my search does not yield any results?
International SOS assigns a Medical Risk Rating to each country. This is based upon the availability, consistency, and quality of healthcare across the country. At this time, Find a Doctor is available in countries deemed Low and Medium Risk. For a country deemed High or Extreme Risk or if your search does not yield results, contact an Assistance Centre
Can I still call an Assistance Centre?
Find a Doctor is available for travellers to search for reputable healthcare facilities before a trip or for care on-the-go. The Assistance Centre remains available to all members, 24/7; Find a Doctor is an additional channel to research and secure non-urgent care. Contact information for a nearby Assistance Centre can be found here.
Is there a fee or cost associated with Find a Doctor?
The Find a Doctor feature is free of charge for members; however, those who visit a recommended healthcare provider may be liable for the cost of an appointment. If payment is required, a claim may be submitted with your insurance provider to recover expenditure.
Where can I find my insurance policy details?
To understand if you will be liable for any payments, check with your insurer. Your Human Resources department will be best suited to provide the insurance policy details.
